Reading Club's Annual Fair
The Club’s Annual Fair which should have taken place at Rivermead Leisure Centre in Reading in June 2020 had to be cancelled due to the international outbreak of Covid and the restrictions imposed. This was a huge disappointment to the card collecting fraternity who normally attended in their hundreds from many parts of the UK.
The Club had hoped to revive our Annual Fair in 2022, but unfortunately there have been major building works with minimal parking facilities at Rivermead, and this phase of the building works will be finished during summer, 2023. As we understand it work is then scheduled to demolish the old Sports Hall and convert it into a car park. Time period and completion is unknown. Hence the use of Rivermead is ruled out for some time yet.
Suitable alternative (smaller?) venues have not been located, and a new Fair Secretary, Fair Organiser, Publicity Officer, and Fair Treasurer are required within the existing club membership to run ANY REPLACEMENT Fair.
This is a huge disappointment as our Annual Fair and Display Board competition was the highlight event of the Club year, it had been running for 29 years.
